This report analyzes the purpose of Japanese military’s surveying and mapping on marine environment. It introduces the executive departments, essential elements and equipment of the surveying and mapping activities. It concludes the methods being used in surveying and mapping different marine environmental elements. The report reveals the key areas in marine environment information on which the Japanese military focuses, as well as analyzes and predicts the current state and development of their marine environment surveying, mapping and surveillance system.
