On April 8, 2026, Grandview Institution held a special seminar entitled “The Russia-Ukraine War and Its Impact on European Security and the World Order: Perspectives from China, Ukraine, and Europe.” The seminar was organized around four sessions: “The Political Evolution of the Russia-Ukraine War,” “Seeking Possible Consensus amid Divergent Narratives,” “The War’s Deeper Impact on Europe’s Security Situation and Future Security Architecture,” and “The War’s Broader Strategic Implications: Conflict Spillover, Great-Power Competition, and the Global Order.” Participants exchanged views on the strategic objectives of the principal parties at present; the impact of the war on NATO, EU defense policy, transatlantic relations, and the reshaping of the European security order; the war narratives advanced by China, Europe, and Ukraine, their differences in position, and the scope for future cooperation. They also analyzed great-power competition in the context of overlapping crises and its long-term implications for the international order.
The seminar was co-chaired by Mao Jing, Director of the Center for European Studies at Grandview Institution, and Sergio Grassi, Resident Representative for China at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Beijing Representative Office.
