GVI and Embassy of the ROK in China Co-host the 6th China-South Korea Policy Seminar

November 26, 2025, the 6th China-South Korea Policy Seminar, co-organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China and the Grandview Institution(GVI), was held in Beijing. Kim Han-kyu, Minister of the Embassy, and Ren Libo, President of the GVI, attended and delivered opening remarks. Participants included Cha Jeong-mi, Researcher at the National Assembly Futures Institute; Yonsei University Professor PAIK Wooyeal ; Hanyang University Professor Seoin Baek; Sogang University Professor Lee Uk-yeon; GVI Young Researcher Quan Xiaoxing; and other experts on relations between China and South Korea.

 Under the theme "The Direction and Tasks of China-South Korea Relations After the APEC Summit," the seminar featured in-depth discussions on strategic cooperation and public diplomacy. Experts noted that the current international security landscape is characterized by "convergence," with deep interconnections among economic, technological, and political issues. They emphasized the need for China-South Korea relations to maintain "independence" and proposed exploring new models of managed trade through joint research, along with practical cooperation in areas such as AI fundamental research and climate change. Regarding public diplomacy, participants suggested fostering mutual understanding through diverse channels, including city exchanges and film and television collaborations. They also recommended reviving the China-ROK Joint Committee on People-to-People Exchanges and encouraging youth internet influencers and other groups to engage in civil society dialogues to bridge differences in public perception.

The experts unanimously agreed on the importance of strengthening high-level strategic communication between China and South Korea, expanding exchanges across various levelsincluding youth, think tanks, and local entitiesand coordinating stances within multilateral frameworks such as APEC to contribute certainty to regional stability in East Asia.
