2025.04.07

On April 7th, a delegation from Grandview Institution visited the UK Foreign Office and had a full day of closed meetings with more than 20 officials from the Conflict Mediation Office, China Policy Department, East Asia Policy Department, Central Asia Policy Department, Security Policy Department.

Ren Libo, President of Grandview Institution, Zhang Tuosheng, Chief Researcher and Director of Northeast Asia Research Center, and Mao Jing, Director of International Cooperation Department and Director of European Research Center, gave a detailed introduction to the "First International Conflict Mediation Forum" being prepared by Grandview Institution to the British side, and conducted in-depth discussions on how to promote the sharing of international conflict mediation experience, methods, cases, and effects between China and the UK.

In addition, the UK Foreign Office is very concerned about the results of the “first China-US Strategic Stability Dialogue” organized by the Grandview Institution and the UK's international crisis mediation agency Inter Mediate last year, as well as the ongoing “second China-US Strategic Stability Dialogue”. Both sides have conducted in-depth discussions on the trends of China-US relations and China-UK relations in the future, and expressed their common willingness to explore the establishment of a second-track mechanism for the China-UK Strategic Security Dialogue on the basis of the China-US Strategic Stability Dialogue.

The delegation from Grandview Institution also exchanged views with each other on the development trends and solutions of the Russia-Ukraine issue, the Korean Peninsula issue, and the Myanmar issue. Both sides believe that with the rise of China's international status, its position and role in international crisis mediation are becoming increasingly prominent. Looking forward to strengthening the policy research and program coordination role of independent think tanks and international crisis mediation organizations in this field in the future, and exploring new channels for enhancing China-UK and China-EU cooperation in the future.
