On September 19, 2024, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun, along with Jonathan Powell, founder and CEO of the British crisis mediation organization Inter Mediate, and their delegation, visited the Grandview Institution. They engaged in in-depth discussions with Yang Xiyu, a senior researcher at the China Institute of International Studies; Zhang Tuosheng, Chief Researcher at the GVI and Director of its Northeast Asia Research Center; Li Nan, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asia Research Center at the GVI and a researcher at the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and Ren Libo, founder and president of the GVI. The dialogue focused on how to restart engagement and exchanges with North Korea.
Also participating in the discussion were Natasha Groom, Senior Director at Inter Mediate; Julien Chatel, Project Development Officer at Inter Mediate; and Zhu Junwei, Director of the U.S. Research Center at the Grandview Institution.
