On the 15th of April, the Grandview Institution (GVI) and the South Korean Embassy to China jointly held an internal seminar titled “Exploring China-Korean Relations in the Next 30 years”. The seminar was attended by the South Korean Ambassador to China - Jae Ho Chung, Minister-Counselor - Nam Jin, Second Secretary - Yeon Dong Hyun, Second Secretary - Baek In Jeong, Professor at the Hanyang University - Moon Heung Ho, Professor at the Catholic University - Kim Jae Chul, Dr. Park Ki Sun at the Dentons Lee Law Firm, Professor at the Korea University - Kim Heon Jun, President of the think tank - Ren Libo, Director of the Academic Committee at the GVI - Zhang Tuosheng, Professor at the Renming University - Cheng Xiaohe, Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences - Wang Junsheng, Researcher at the China Institute of International Studies - Wu Jingjing, and Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences - Li Juan.
His Excellency Jae Ho Chung and President Ren Libo delivered their speeches respectively, they hope that China and South Korea will deepen their bilateral relations on the basis of mutually beneficial, win-win cooperation, while putting aside their differences, and create a better future together. The experts had a thorough discussion on three topics pertaining to Sino-South Korean relations; common interest between China and South Korea, maintaining strategic communication, and improving friendship. The experts reached a consensus that both countries should actively seek and confirm common interests between China and South Korea in order to lay out a solid foundation for managing differences, while at the same time strengthening strategic communication in the political and security realm. Further cooperate in the economics and social realm. Promote non-governmental, people to people exchange in its various form. Only then can the two countries jointly overcome the barrier that is ideological differences and contribute to regional as well as world peace.
