[Introduction]
The world is increasing emphasis on the marine economy. Upgrading the marine economic industry structure and transforming economy mode become directions for nations and countries to start with. In addition, to capture competitive advantages in economy and science, and to promote nations’ reputation and status are ways to explore marine economic development as well. This report studies development history of marine economy, current situation and policy orientation in US, and provides recommendations to marine economy management and related policy making in China. The research finds that marine economy in America plays an important role in the layout of macroeconomy and social development. During the process of marine economy development, the national authorities combine with their own advantage, and adopt measures of ‘niche market positioning’, and ‘capacity and structural optimization’ to develop their characteristic marine economy. Besides, maximization of resource allocative efficiency in enterprises compose the cornerstone of the marine industry development.
