From July 1 to 3, 2026, Grandview Institution (GVI) visited the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), the Berghof Foundation, and the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), holding in-depth discussions with experts and scholars in relevant fields on topics including China-Europe relations, the international situation, and conflict mediation.
At the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), GVI exchanged views with Volker Stanzel, former German Ambassador to China; Gudrun Wacker, Visiting Fellow in the Asia Research Division; Angela Stanzel, Senior Associate; and multiple experts and scholars from the Eastern Europe and Eurasia Research Division, the Americas Research Division, and the Asia Research Division. The two sides held exchanges on the roles of China and Europe in the current geopolitical and geo-economic landscape, transformations in the international order, and the development of China-Europe relations.

At the Berghof Foundation, GVI engaged in discussions with the Foundation on the roles of Europe and China in international conflict mediation, the development of peace mediation mechanisms, and international coordination. Both sides concurred that, against the backdrop of complex and intertwined international and regional flashpoints, strengthening exchanges and dialogue among different regions and institutions can help enhance mutual understanding and promote pragmatic cooperation in relevant fields. The German side expressed its expectation that China would play a greater role in the field of peace mediation.
