On May 15, 2026, a delegation from the German-Chinese Association for Exchange (GDCV) visited Grandview Institution(GVI). The delegation held discussions with Ding Yifan, former Deputy Director of the Institute for World Development under the Development Research Center of the State Council and Senior Research Fellow at the School of Global Governance and Development at Renmin University of China; Zhou Rong, Director of Global South Countries Studies Center at GVI; and Mao Jing, Director of the European Studies Center at GVI. The discussions covered the practical experience of Chinese-style modernization, the significance of international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in the context of the evolving international landscape, and Germany's transformations across political, economic, diplomatic, and social spheres in the post-Merkel era.
The delegation of the GDCV comprised Maria Laabs, writer, publisher, jurist, and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms (IALANA); Liu Guosheng, President of the GDCV; Sabine Kebir, visiting professor at the Free University of Berlin and Goethe University Frankfurt; Fabian Scheidler, writer; Birk Meinhardt, writer; Christoph Kraemer, Deputy Chief Physician of the Department of General Surgery at the Pritzwalk Hospital in Brandenburg, Germany, and member of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW); Dr. Ruediger Dammann, editor of the biweekly journal Ossietzky; and Susanna Kuby, Professor of Germanic Literature at the University of Venice.
For many years, GDCV has been actively organizing exchange visits between governmental agencies, enterprises, chambers of commerce, associations, and mainstream media institutions of both countries. Its mission is to promote bilateral exchanges between Germany and China across economic, cultural, artistic, educational, and media spheres, and to enhance mutual understanding between China and Germany, as well as between China and Europe.
Dr. Peter Kreutzberger, President of the Association, formerly served as Deputy Consul General at the German Consulate General in Shanghai, Consul General at the German Consulate General in Shenyang, and visiting professor at Tongji University. Having lived and worked in China for over 20 years, he has made significant contributions to the development of friendly Sino-German relations.
