On April 22, a delegation from Grandview Institution visited Japan and jointly organized a Track II Dialogue on China-Japan relations with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the current state of bilateral relations, the international situation, and security issues in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait.
Nearly 20 researchers from the Sasakawa Peace Foundation took part in the dialogue, including Nobuko Kayashima, Executive Director of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation; Masafumi Takamizawa, former Ambassador for Disarmament of Japan; Yutaka Izumi, former Consul-General of Japan in Shanghai; Hidekazu Iwanami, former official of the Japan Coast Guard; and Senior Fellows Tsuneo Watanabe, Taisuke Anezaki, and Aya Murata. The dialogue was chaired by Katsuya Yamamoto, Director of the Strategic Deterrence Group at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
Before the dialogue began, the Grandview Institution delegation met with Eiji Sakai, Executive Director of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. The two sides reviewed their cooperation in recent years in such areas as China-Japan youth exchanges, China-Japan Track II dialogues, and China-Japan-U.S. trilateral dialogues, and discussed future plans for continued research and dialogue cooperation in the above-mentioned projects as well as in the field of international peace mediation.

Members of the delegation participating in the above exchanges included Ren Libo, President of Grandview Institution; Shen Dingli, Director of the Center for American Studies at Grandview Institution; Liu Xiaobo, Director of the Center for Maritime Studies at Grandview Institution; Zhang Yi, Senior Research Fellow at Grandview Institution; and Zhao Long, Director of the Institute for Global Governance Studies at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies. Also participating in the exchanges were Keisuke Ogata, Specially Appointed Program Director of the Sasakawa Japan-China Friendship Fund, and Research Fellow Liu Tongle.
