On March 18, 2026, a delegation from the Grandview Institution (GVI) visited the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine. Ahidzhanov Bagrat Rafikovich, Director of the Department of Agricultural Development, briefed the delegation on the impact of the war on arable land, the positioning of Ukraine’s post-war agriculture within the global food supply chain, the country’s progress in advancing agricultural modernization, as well as its efforts to attract foreign investment and promote cooperation with markets such as the European Union and Asia.

In July 2025, the Ukrainian government carried out an institutional restructuring reform, merging the former Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Ministry of Economy into a “super ministry” to better align agricultural, environmental, and trade policies with EU standards.

Ukraine is one of the world’s most important “breadbaskets” and a leading exporter of wheat, corn, and sunflower oil. Agriculture has long served as a cornerstone of the national economy and, particularly during wartime, has become a key pillar of economic resilience.
