Norwegian Diplomats Visit GVI

On January 13, 2026, Colonel Maria Fagerheim and Colonel Roger Mekiassen, Defense Attachés at the Norwegian Embassy in China; Political Counsellor Gry Irene Skorstad; and Dr. Ellen Tveteraas, Senior Advisor at the Embassy’s Defense Attaché Office, paid a visit to the Grandview Institution (GVI). They held in-depth discussions with Ren Libo, President of the GVI; Wu Hao, Director of the Defense Studies Center; and Mao Jing, Director of the European Studies Center on issues including the Russia–Ukraine war and U.S.–European alliance relations.

Both sides agreed that, amid an increasingly turbulent and complex global landscape, maintaining communication and dialogue is particularly important. In the face of international security challenges and civilizational differences, smooth channels of communication can help reduce unnecessary suspicion, identify shared interests, and facilitate the search for pragmatic solutions.
