November 24th~ 26th, 2023, “Seminar on China-Japan Future Innovation & Development” co-organized by GVI and Japan’s SPF was successfully held in the early winter of Beijing. More than 50 Chinese and Japanese delegates from the Panda Cup All-Japan Youth Essay Contest, the Japan Science Association, the SPF, Peking University, and Beijing Language and Culture University participated in the event which intends to enhance the consensus between the youth groups of China and Japan through mutual learning and communication.
The three-day program included discussions and presentations on the theme of "Young People's Imagination of Future Life Scenarios" between the Japanese youth delegation and young students from Chinese universities, visits to technology companies such as SenseTime (AI software provider) and Baidu Inc., as well as tours of historical and cultural monuments in Beijing such as the Palace Museum (Forbidden City), the Qianmen Street, and the Liulichang Cultural Street.

At the “Seminar on China-Japan Future Innovation & Development”, Yuichiro Watanabe, Professor at the University of Tokyo and Head of the Japan Delegation to China, and Ren Libo, Founder and President of GVI, delivered welcoming speeches. Keisuke Ogata, Program Director of the SPF’s Japan-China Friendship Fund chaired the conference. Young students from Yokohama National University, Ritsumeikan University, Okayama University, Yamaguchi Prefectural University, Kyushu University, Doshisha Women's University, Kyoto Sangyo University, Hyogo University of Education, Kyoritsu Women's University, Dokkyo University, Yaeyama College of Commerce and Industry, Yamanashi Gakuin Higher Education, and Yukoinishi Higher Education, and their counterparts from Peking University and Beijing Language and Culture University had a lively discussion about how the new technology of AI can improve the urban life, enhance the popularity of cities, and improve the physical and mental health of the people. They also ventured scientific and rational answers to the above questions. Prof. Yuichiro Watanabe and Mr. He An, Secretary General of GVI and Director of its Center for South Asian Studies, commented on the outcomes of the seminar.
