On October 17th, 2023, Mr. Masato Yasuda, Executive Managing Director of the Japanese Association for the Promotion of International Trade (JAPIT); Ms. Rao Fang, Deputy Director of JAPIT Beijing Representative Office paid a visit to GVI, where they had a full exchange of views with GVI President Mr. Ren Libo and its Secretary-General Mr. He An on the pragmatic cooperation between GVI and JAPIT in the near future.
Mr. Yasuda said that JAPIT was founded in 1954, aiming to contribute to peace and stability in China, Asia, and the whole world by promoting economic cooperation, trade, and investment. The association has carried out a variety of exchanges with China in multiple fields by participating in the signing of private trade agreements, dispatching economic and trade missions, organizing industrial exhibitions and technology exchanges, and so forth. Now, JAPIT encompasses more than 500 members, including trading companies, manufacturers, enterprises, and business societies in the areas covering insurance, transportation, and finance. The association is willing to make joint efforts with GVI in boosting China-Japan civil exchanges and cooperation.
GVI President Mr. Ren Libo said that JAPIT has rich experience and impressive achievements in catalyzing investment and economic cooperation between China and Japan. GVI is also committed to facilitating civil exchanges and dialogues between the two countries. Earlier this year, GVI sent a delegation to Japan, which was the first Chinese think tank to land in this neighboring state after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. This November, GVI will co-organize with the Sasakawa Foundation the "China-Japan Youth Salon", as one of the thematic activities the think tank undertakes to bolster communication and exchanges between counterparts, scholars, and young people in both China and Japan.
Both sides said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan and they look forward to closer cooperation between civil societies, so as to better serve economic and trade purposes as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
