On the evening of Aug 17, 2023, Ren Libo, President of GVI, and He An, Secretary General of GVI, had dinner with Brigadier-General (BG) Ng Pak Shun, Group Chief of Policy and Strategy of the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF), Singapore, and Lu Yu Hsiang, Assistant Director of the MINDEF’s Defense Policy Group. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on Sino-U.S. relations and the situation in the South China Sea.
On Aug. 18, 2023, the GVI delegation made a visit to S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and reached a consensus with Lin Ming Zhong, Director of Outreach Department, and He Zi En, Head of China Program, on the follow-up of inter-think-tank dialogues, exchanges of visits and communications, and joint researches, etc. The two sides also explored how to deepen research cooperation on defense and security.
On Aug. 18, 2023, Ren Libo, President of GVI called on James Crabtree, Executive Director of the Asia Office (based in Singapore) of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a British research institute, and Veerle Nouwens, Senior Fellow of Shangri-La Dialogue. They kept each other updated on the development and key projects of their respective institutions and discussed the specifics of their subsequent dialogues and exchanges.
