Recently, the Grandview Institution organized an internal seminar focusing on Xinjiang-related issues. The keynote report was delivered by Ma Dazheng, Executive Deputy Director of the National Qing History Compilation Committee and former Director of the Frontier History and Geography Research Center, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The seminar brought together senior experts from the United Front Work Department, Xinhua News Agency, People’s Armed Police Headquarters, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, and Minzu University of China, among other ministries and research institutions.
Grandview Institution formally established its Frontier Research Institute in 2016, appointing Ma Dazheng as its inaugural director. Under his leadership, young researchers at Grandview have continuously conducted tracking research on domestic and international separatist trends, key factors affecting development and stability in Xinjiang, and regional development planning for southern Xinjiang, producing a series of information reports and thematic studies that serve as reference for national policymaking. In addition, Ma Dazheng has led research teams on multiple field visits to Xinjiang, engaging with local leaders and authorities in public security, ethnic affairs, and religious management. These on-the-ground studies have significantly enriched the Institution’s research output.
