Delegation from the German Left Party Visits Grandview Institution

On July 29, a delegation from the German Left Party, organized jointly by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, visited the Grandview Institution. During the visit, they held discussions with Ren Libo, President of Grandview, Mao Jing, Director of the European Studies Center, and Liu Xiaobo, Director of the Ocean Studies Center, on the development of independent Chinese think tanks as well as the current state of China–Germany and China–Europe relations.

Representatives of the German Left Party included Naisan Raji, member of the Party Central Committee; Alicia Strobach, member of the Left Party Youth Organization; and Julien Then, Head of New Media Operations. They introduced the party’s core positions and principles, as well as activities undertaken by the youth organization in Germany.

President Ren Libo emphasized that young people are the most open-minded group in society and play a fundamental and crucial role in cross-cultural exchange, learning, and intercivilizational dialogue and cooperation. He encouraged the younger generation to continuously enrich and improve themselves within the context of global multicultural development, and to contribute to world peace and development in a lively, innovative, and proactive manner.

Participants from CPAFFC included Wang Wei, Director of Division Five, Eurasia Department, and Teng Jixiang, Senior Officer; from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, Canan Kus, Representative to China, and Zhang Xiaolu, staff member at the Beijing office.
