On the morning of June 11, 2024, Peter Semneby, Special Envoy of the Swedish Government for Korean Peninsula Affairs, visited GVI and had a frank exchange of views on the situation of the Korean Peninsula with Zhang Tuosheng, Principal Researcher and Director of the Center for Northeast Asia Studies, and Ren Libo, Founder and President of GVI.

Sweden was one of the main countries that provided humanitarian aid to North Korea during the Korean War and also one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with the DPRK. Sweden has played the role of "intermediary" for the DPRK-U.S. dialogue on the peninsula issue. Sweden hopes to continue its constructive role in advancing the political settlement of the peninsula issue, said Mr. Semneby.
