On February 1, a delegation from the Grandview Institution (GVI) paid a visit to Ouyang Yujing, the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia. Ren Libo, Founder and President of GVI, shared with Ambassador Ouyang the latest research results of his think tank in the fields of maritime security, South China Sea issues, and China-US relations, as well as the external exchanges around these research programs.
Ambassador Ouyang expressed his appreciation for GVI’s efforts and said that the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia is willing to help GVI with the joint promotion of a series of exchanges between the Chinese and Malaysian business community and the think tanks. He also said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, the two sides have made significant achievements in various fields of cooperation, and the bilateral relationship has maintained good momentum. In 2023, the leaders of the two countries reached an important consensus on building a China-Malaysia community of destiny, which drew a new blueprint for the development of bilateral relations in the new era. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Malaysia and is also the "Year of Sino-Malaysian Friendship". The two countries will make greater concerted efforts for the prosperity and stability of the region, and China's civil think tanks can play a greater role in this regard, he said.
Also participating in the meeting were Pei Guichun, Director General of the Political Office, Wu Xiaoping, First Secretary of the Political Office of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, Liu Xiaobo, Director of the Center for Maritime Studies, and He An, Secretary General of GVI.
