On the 19th of April, the Grandview Institution (GVI) and the German Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Foundation jointly held a seminar named “The Russo-Ukrainian War: Peace Opportunities and Prospects”. Professor of Political Science at the Helmut-Schmidt University of the German Bundeswehr - Michael Staak, Researcher at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs - Nadine Godehardt, Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee at the GVI - Ouyang Wei, Director of Russian Economic Research Office of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences - Xu Poling, and the former Chinese Military Attaché to Belarus, Armenia and Serbia - Ma Yongbao attended the seminar. The seminar was presided over by the President of GVI - Ren Libo.

Experts who attended the meeting analyzed and interpreted the Russo-Ukrainian War from the perspective of geopolitics, strategy and tactics, and the economy. The experts participating in the seminar believed that the Russo-Ukrainian War led to some major shifts in geopolitical dynamics, geoeconomic situation, and resulted in the change of the meaning and format of conventional warfare. The experts reached a consensus that military means is by no means an effective way of resolving the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, the international community needs to jointly seek a political solution. China has not long ago announced a twelve-point proposal on reaching a political solution to the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, which has been increasingly gained the approval of the international community.
