On March 7th, Snowy Lintern and Fan Yizhang, Armed Forces Delegates from International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC) visited Grandview Institution(GVI) and communicated with Ren Libo, President of GVI, Liu Xiaobo, Maritime Research Center of GVI and Mao Jing, director of Public Affairs of GVI on the topics of humanitarian aid in the armed conflicts, “Belt and Road” Initiative, private security company and future cooperation between ICRC and GVI.

Lintern introduced that volunteers and staff from ICRC have been providing the medical care, relief supplies, mental health and social support for the people who have fled from the conflicts. As a neutral humanitarian organization, ICRC usually participates in mediation in a neutral capacity.

ICRC also works in the countries along the BRI and is prepared to work with the Chinese organizations in sharing knowledge, improving capabilities, making policies and practice training, Lintern said.

Lintern also said that the job of ICRC has many similarities with the four main research areas with GVI, which are maritime studies, border studies, defense studies and BRI studies. “We are willing to cooperate with GVI on the topic of protecting the commoners in the Russia-Ukraine conflict proposed by President Ren,” Lintern said.
